STEP 1
Registering for Compulsory Major 1 (80 credits): Fine Arts
What to do: Register ALL FOUR of the following compulsory modules:
XBHK2605 (Sculpture and Installation)
XGFK2605 (Printmaking)
XSKN2605 (Painting)
XTKN2605 (Drawing and New Media)

STEP 2
Registering for Compulsory Major 2 (32 credits): Art History and Image Studies
What to do: Register ALL TWO of the following compulsory modules:
HKGK2614 (Visual Narratives and Fictive Worlds)
HKGK2724 (Image Translations in South Africa)
*Please take note that you need to have passed HKGK1514 and HKWS1624 in your previous year in order to register for the above modules. In case you did not pass these module(s), contact the Fine Arts Programme Director at FineArts@ufs.ac.za for advice
STEP 3
Compulsory Limited Option (32 credits)
CONTINUE with the second year elective in 2026 of the first year elective you selected in 2025. For example, if you had Psychology (first year modules) as an elective in 2025, you need to continue with Psychology (second year modules) now in 2026.
What to do: Register ALL TWO modules of one compulsory elective in the list below (make sure that you have selected the same discipline that you selected the year before).
Please ensure that your elective modules this year count 32 credits in total and that both modules in the elective are at least NQF level 6.
Please take note that some modules have prerequisites, for instance, requiring you to have passed the first year modules to continue to the second year modules. For more information on the prerequisites, consult the 2026 Humanities Rulebook available on the UFS Website (pages 117-206)
